Founded in 1981 by travel trailblazer Selma Edwards, E-Z Tours began with a heartfelt
mission: to help people experience the beauty, culture, and spirit of Africa for themselves. Her
goal was to open the eyes and hearts by making travel to the continent accessible, exciting, and
deeply meaningful.
What started as a tour wholesale company quickly grew into a movement. Selma partnered with
a wide range of organizations—churches, universities, social groups, schools, sports
clinics, dance companies, and libraries—to bring group travel to life. She also pioneered
partnerships with top radio stations like WDAS in Philadelphia and WBLS in New York City,
inviting listeners to join life-changing journeys to Africa. These weren’t just tours—they were
unforgettable cultural connections.
One of Selma’s most impactful contributions was creating “Black History Month in Africa”
A program offering special discounts during February in collaboration with airlines, hotels, and
local travel services. She also worked with leading publications that served the
African-American community, and was instrumental in helping Essence Magazine produce its
first African fashion spread in the Ivory Coast.
Selma also saw the power of festivals to inspire travel. She launched SELCO, a special events
company that produced vibrant cultural celebrations across Africa. Her work helped bring to life
major events like the South Africa Music Festival—which still draws international visitors
today—and CultureFest in The Ivory Coast. And who could forget the Free Nelson Mandela
Concert in Senegal, which introduced the world to a rising star—Youssou N'Dour.
Today, Selma’s vision is carried on by her daughters, who lead E-Z Tours with the same
dedication and heart. They continue to design purposeful cultural journeys—especially those
that connect African-American travelers with rich and authentic African experiences, from
historical landmarks and thriving cities to ancestral villages and soulful festivals.
But E-Z Tours doesn’t stop at Africa. Building on Selma’s foundation, the company now offers
immersive travel experiences across all seven continents—always with a focus on culture,
community, and connection. Whether you're exploring the plains of Kenya, the temples of
Asia, European capitals, or the rainforests of South America, E-Z Tours helps you discover the
heart of each destination.
With E-Z Tours, you’re not just taking a trip—you’re making meaningful memories that
last a lifetime. Let us show you the world, one incredible journey at a time.
